PROVEN PARTNERSHIP // Fabricator doubles production capacity with tandem large-tonnage press brakes

Above: Vicon expanded its capability and doubled production with a Cincinnati Inc. 40-foot, 2,500-ton press brake system

April, 2026- Vicon Fabricating Co., Mentor, Ohio, performs heavy-duty steel fabrication, especially for components that are long, thick and require precise repeatability. Working with both domestic and foreign high-strength steels, the company produces components that meet the toughest strength and performance standards.

When growing demand began to push the limits of its metalforming capacity, Vicon turned to Cincinnati Inc., with which it had worked before. Vicon purchased a 40-footlong, 2,500-ton press brake system that expanded its capability and effectively doubled production. This investment helped to further solidify Vicon’s reputation as a source for forming long, heavy components.

Operating from two northern Ohio facilities totaling more than 130,000 square feet, Vicon is built for large-scale, high-precision fabrication. Multiple plants handle a full range of metal fabrication and secondary operations, delivering the consistency and responsiveness upon which its customers rely.

Vicon serves a growing list of OEMs for heavy truck and trailer chassis, utility poles, conveyor systems, train, construction fabrications and other formed steel components for demanding mobile and industrial applications. Vicon also provides replacement frames, repair services and custom fabrications for in-service vehicles and equipment.

The production environment created by Vicon sets the standard for precision, quality and responsiveness.

MULTIPLE MACHINES

Vicon’s lineup of equipment includes a 4,000- ton, 50-foot-long CNC press brake and 2,500 ton, 40-foot-long CNC press brake with backgauge, both from Cincinnati; a 750- ton, 26- foot-long CNC press brake with backgauge; two high-definition plasma cutting machines that process materials up to 50 feet long; three 6,000-watt laser cutting machines that manage materials up to 50 feet long; a Beatty CNC punch press; and dual CNC drilling machines.

Vicon’s in-house shot blast and powder coat line provides a finished product for many OEM products. This broad capability allows Vicon to deliver the durability, precision, and repeatability essential to its customers’ success.

A flexible, long-bed system can handle everything from short-run to production components.

TANDEM CONFIGURATION

To address an increased production forecast, Vicon has invested in Cincinnati-built 1,250- ton Proform press brakes configured in tandem for up to 40-footlong CNC forming.

This addition created a flexible, long-bed system capable of handling everything from short-run to production components. Each brake can operate independently for standard jobs or in synchronized tandem for long, heavy parts requiring precise, multi-point bending.

Together, they provide extended forming length for large assemblies; high tonnage per foot for heavy-gauge materials; faster cycle times with synchronized hydraulic control; and intelligent CNC systems for accuracy and repeatability.

The tandem configuration allows operators to run two short jobs or one long one without interrupting workflow. Cincinnati’s touchscreen controls make switching modes quick and intuitive, optimizing utilization across shifts and keeping production moving.

ON THE RADAR

Vicon’s partnership with Cincinnati spans more than two decades and is built on the equipment builder’s performance, reliability and responsive service. As a result, Vicon reports that other options weren’t even considered when it became time to add a new press brake. Cincinnati was always on the radar to supplement the first 50-foot press that was installed 26 years earlierthe largest CI had ever built to that point.

Vicon relies upon the responsiveness and knowledgeable attention of Cincinnati’s service team to keep its presses running smoothly. When forming long, heavy parts on tight deadlines, the support team is critical to maintain production with minimum downtime.

WORKFLOW TRANSFORMED

With the new tandem system fully online, forming capacity has effectively doubled. The combination of higher tonnages with longer beds allows operators to move large and complex jobs through the department at unprecedented speed. Lead times have shortened, scheduling is more flexible, and the company can respond faster to both large OEM orders and one-off repair jobs.

For steel fabricators, success depends on speed, precision and reliability. By investing in the 1,250-ton Proform tandem press brakes, Vicon ensured its forming operations can keep pace with increasing demand while maintaining accuracy.

Vicon’s long-standing partnership with Cincinnati is grounded in trust, performance and a shared commitment to American manufacturing. Together, the companies created a production environment that sets the standard for precision, quality and responsiveness.

The addition of the 1,250-ton Proform tandem press brakes has added capacity, boosted throughput and elevated accuracy across each of Vicon’s jobs. For Vicon, this also represents a strategic investment in sustainable growth and confirmation of the company’s ongoing pursuit of continuous improvement.
