Red Bud Industries has received an order for a Precision Blanking Line, Low Passline Slitter, and a Packaging Line from Curtis Steel Company LLC, a Houston-based service center. Curtis Steel is one of the largest flat-rolled steel distributors in Texas.
The new Blanking Line will be designed and configured to process hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and galvanized material. It will have the capability of processing up to 50,000 lb (23,000 kg) master coils at widths up to 60” (1524 mm) and thicknesses up to 0.250” (6.3 mm). The line will include Red Bud Industries’ Direct Drive Servo Roll Feed allowing Curtis Steel the capability of producing the closest tolerance blanks in the industry. The new line will also include a number of features that allow the line to be setup and changed over quickly while also reducing personnel requirements. This includes a Cassette Style Roller Leveler, Quick Change Blade Shear, and Magazine Style Automatic Pallet Loader.
The new Low Passline Slitter will be rated for up to 50,000 lb (23,000 kg) master coils at widths up to 60’ (1524 mm) and thicknesses up to 0.075” (1.9 mm). A unique Tooling Exchange System will allow up to 12 dedicated setups to be stored for use at any time. This state-of-the-art design is ideal for Curtis Steel’s common jobs that will be scheduled on a regular basis. Other features include a Double Loop Thread System to reduce pit depth requirements, and a Dual Mandrel Recoiler so the line can be restarted quickly after tail out.
The Packaging Line will support the new Slitting Line as well as one of Curtis Steel’s existing machines. There will be two Fully-Automatic Banding Tables so the line can handle a high throughput of slit coils. Similarly, there will be two Magazine Style Automatic Pallet Loaders to load skids onto the Eight Position Sortation Table. The Packaging Line will also feature an Automatic Stretch Wrapper.
