Real-time predictive analytics, regulatory updates and growing demand for heavily engineered assemblies are requiring parts inspection at tighter tolerances in regulated industries such aerospace, medical devices and automotive. Many companies are also moving to 100 percent inspection. In response to customer feedback, AIMS Metrology has introduced the new 5-axis LM-SF coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to give companies multi-sensor inspection on the shop floor.
AIMS engineered the LM-SF for REVO 5-axis applications, advanced scanning with SP25 and lasers. The multi-sensor CMM allows an operator to perform different inspection tasks in one location. A thermal compensation system, active pneumatic vibration isolation and a contamination mitigation system shield the CMM from the harsh elements of a factory environment. The LM-SF series can be fully automated for integration with a production cell or used as a stand-alone inspection station.
“We’ve always listened to customers regarding their needs,” says Thomas Ayers, sales and business development director (Southeast) for AIMS. “Our 5-axis HB brought mobile inspection to job shops followed by the Summit 10.10.10 which put REVO 5-axis into the hands of operators on the manufacturing floor. The new line is built on the technology of our linear motor air bearing CMMs but equipped to withstand the rigors of a production environment. Operators can now inspect very high-tolerance components without the need to cue these parts in a CMM lab and wait for results.”
The REVO-5 axis probe allows the LM-SF to measure dimensional, GD&T requirements and surface finish with tactile and non-contact sensors. AIMS Metrology will demonstrate the LM-SF at Booth 134242 at IMTS in Chicago. Visit aimsmetrology.com or call 937/320-4930.
