November, 2025- Gunnison, Colorado-based metal sculptor CODIE ALJETS overcame Stage 4 cancer and then followed his dream to make art full time. He works to transform miscellaneous objects into sculptures that show “the realism and life in nature.” While he often employs humble reclaimed materials—such as nails, chain, drill bits, saw blades, steel drums, pipe, scrap carbon and stainless steel—Aljets also works with bronze and gold leaf. His process includes hand hammering, texturing, welding and grinding. He collaborates with customers through drawing and conversations to bring their commissions to life.
