The Rhyz
The Rhyz sculpture is a woven steel canopy offering shade to shoppers in the Domain Northside district of Austin, Texas.
January 2019 - Austin, Texas-based developer Endeavor Real Estate Group partnered with Flying Carpet Creative, a public sculpture company headquartered in Houston, to create the art installation for Domain Northside, a shopping and entertainment project.
The sculpture is called Rhyz and includes woven stainless steel strips tackwelded to form a canopy atop three concrete pillars.
The alien nest serves as a shade structure during the day and a lighted installation at night.
