September 13, 2017 - Workshops for Warriors, the only accredited school in the Nation that trains, certifies, and helps place Veterans, Wounded Warriors, and Transitioning Service Members into advanced manufacturing careers, announced a $1 million donation from Ariel Corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer of separable reciprocating gas compressors. With the support of the donation, Workshops for Warriors will be able to keep their commitment to transition Veterans into successful manufacturing careers at no cost to the student.

As a world-class manufacturer, Ariel sets the industry standard for compressors worldwide. Workshops for Warriors has worked hard to align themselves with the best companies in every aspect of the advanced manufacturing industry – Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., Haas Automation, CNC Software, Inc., Amada America, SolidWorks, and many more – and according to Workshops for Warriors Founder & CEO, Ariel Corporation is the best of the best.

“It is incredibly important that as Workshops for Warriors’ training centers continue to grow and expand nationwide, our students are training on the best equipment, are earning nationally recognized credentials in advanced manufacturing, and are exposed to job opportunities with the right companies. Ariel is one of those companies that are the best at what they do, so we knew we wanted to start that partnership,” said Hernán Luis y Prado, CEO & Founder of Workshops for Warriors. “Receiving this donation will help cover training costs and will be the backbone to our future success.”  Workshops for Warriors operating costs are approximately $200,000 per month and does not receive Federal or State funding.

“For Ariel, this training pipeline is a great way to find qualified, skilled machinists while also supporting veterans in their transition to civilian life. We are so pleased to be able to support Workshops for Warriors and we encourage manufacturers throughout the nation to take a look at the great candidates this program graduates. They come with all the fantastic training and experience received in their military service, combined with skills we are looking for in a modern manufacturing operation. We could not ask for more!” Karen Buchwald Wright, President & CEO of Ariel Corporation.

To date, Workshops for Warriors has graduated 421 Veterans, Wounded Warriors, and Transitioning Service Members who have earned a combined 2,350 nationally recognized credentials. Machining students earn training in Computer-Aided design (SolidWorks), Computer-Aided manufacturing (Mastercam), CNC milling and turning (on Haas Mills and Lathes), 3D printing (Stratasys and MarkForged) CNC laser (Amada), CNC waterjet (Flow), and Precision Measuring Tools (Starret). Welding students earn nationally recognized credentials from the American Welding Society in Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Flux Cored Arc Welding.

Ariel Corporation and Workshops for Warriors were introduced through a Workshops for Warriors alumni who earned a job as a Machine Tool Operator at Ariel.

"I will always be thankful for the skill set I acquired from Workshops for Warriors that Ariel Corporation was able to recognize. Ariel's no pressure work environment made it an almost seamless transition from the Workshops for Warriors classroom to the Ariel Corporation Machine Shop floor. This program has helped me obtain a rewarding career as a CNC machinist and jumpstart my journey to becoming a Mechanical Engineer." Felton Shropshire IV U.S. Marine Veteran and current Ariel Corporation employee.
