July/August 2011 - Weld fixtures need to adapt to changing requirements. This fixture is constructed from elements of a modular fixturing system. The five-sided table has a regular pattern of precision 28 mm (11/8 in.) bores on accurate 100 mm (4 in.) centers. The surfaces are hardened to 55 Rc to prevent spatter from sticking and provide abrasive and rust resistance. The locating stops and angles are hardened and machined with matching bores and precision slots. A positioning and clamping bolt joins the components together and provides 26.5 kN (6,000 lbs.) of clamping force.
