Steel Warehouse, a leading steel processor and service center with 18 facilities in North America and internationally, announces the promotion of Francisco “Paco” Ponton to Country Director – Mexico. Ponton previously served as Managing Director at Steel Warehouse – Mexico where he expanded the company’s business interests in Mexico since operations began in 2005. This includes establishing the steel coil processing facility in Monterrey, Mexico as the first company in the country to offer temper pass cut-to-length quality steel, setting a new standard for flatness and surface quality in the market.
In this new role Ponton will provide strategic oversight across all Mexico-based operations, represent Steel Warehouse on boards, and lead market development initiatives in key sectors. His deep knowledge of the regional supply chain, including fabricators, third-party suppliers and regulatory processes will continue to help manufacturers successfully establish and grow operations in Mexico.
“Paco’s commitment to operational excellence and customer partnerships has not only shaped the success of our Mexico operations but also helped customers confidently relocate manufacturing into Mexico through his guidance and market insight,” said Marc Lerman, CCO, Steel Warehouse.
Ponton’s expertise spans import/export permitting, IMMEX program guidance to support cost savings, and connecting companies with subject matter experts for site selection and market entry. He also is an active member of REF (formerly Renaissance Executive Forums), a global organization of peer advisory boards that brings together non-competing industry leaders to accelerate business growth and evolution.
To further support business development in the region, Steel Warehouse announced the promotion of Oscar Sanchez to Business Unit Manager of Steel Warehouse – Mexico. Sanchez joined Steel Warehouse 20 years ago and has held leadership roles across both commercial and operational functions. He is instrumental in the company’s ongoing success and growth in the region.
These promotions underscore Steel Warehouse’s commitment to investing in people, strengthening leadership continuity, and positioning its Mexico operations for continued growth and strategic impact.
