ROLLING ALONG // Picot USA focuses on high-performance plate rolling machines

Written by:  Grégory Conraud, president, Picot USA

February, 2026- Picot USA has been keeping metals rolling for more than 160 years. Founded in France in the mid-19th century, the Picot Group built its business designing and manufacturing machines that shape metal with accuracy and reliability. Decades ago, the goal was simple: Build machines that work, last and make people’s lives easier. And not much has changed.

Roll bending and pre-bending machines are versatile and used all over the world in sectors where accuracy, repeatability and reliability are non-negotiable, ranging from transport and civil engineering to aeronautics, energy and construction. They are particularly well suited for applications that require changing projects, materials and batch sizes, such as job shops, and can take on anything from single-item production to short and long production runs.

Picot offers a comprehensive range of plate rolling machines, including two-roll, three-roll and four-roll configurations.

Three-roll machines, although simple, are fast, flexible and smart. In certain cases, they can compete and outperform four-roll machines. One customer with an industrial boiler application selected a Picot R3H 460- 30 machine because of its pre-bending and minimum roll bending diameter performance, with symmetrical three-roller architecture providing pre-bending without turning the sheet over, as well as solid post-bending geometry.

The R3H architecture also has the ability to roll thin materials without laminating the sheet. Architectural applications, in particular, demand not only precision but also exceptional surface quality, and Picot works closely with material producers, such as Alucobond, to ensure optimal compatibility between materials and forming processes, helping customers push the boundaries or architectural design.

NEW HORIZONS

When Picot came to the United States in the early 2000s, through a collaboration with Boschert USA, the fit felt natural due to the strong demand for high-performance plate rolling machines across the country.

Over time, however, it became clear that serving the American market required more than representation—it required proximity, structure and a dedicated organization. That’s how Picot USA came to life. The goal of the U.S. subsidiary is not reinvention. It’s a commitment to supporting customers more closely, understanding their specific production challenges and building long-term partnerships grounded in trust, responsiveness and technical excellence. It’s also a commitment to share rolling experience technician support and online remote assistance.

OPTIONS

Picot plate rolling machines can be fitted with a variety of options to meet customers’ needs, including deep hardened rolls, hydraulic opening head, end stop and roll control for cone rolling, and special control consoles. And then there’s the Easy2Roll patented software that helps operators roll parts without guessing. Think of it as a GPS. It guides operators step by step, calculates rolling sequences, anticipates material springback and ensures consistent results, even for complex shapes.

By reducing trial and error, Easy2Roll improves quality while saving time, material and energy—less scrap, fewer do-overs, better parts—an undeniable advantage in today’s competitive manufacturing landscape.

Beyond machines and software, Picot USA represents a philosophy: the combination of European engineering heritage with American industrial dynamism. It is the ability to listen, adapt and innovate alongside customers, supported by a long-term vision built on performance, partnership and progress.

Picot is “rolling your business forward” and doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Plate rolling is more than a manufacturing process—it’s a driver of growth, creativity and competitiveness.
