May, 2026- Design-build is “as much a mindset as it is a process,” according to the Design-Build Institute of America. “It is intended to be a highly collaborative, fully integrated undertaking that is built on trust, mutual respect, teamwork, innovation and creative problem-solving. Design-build works best when everybody makes the mental shift to think and act as a single entity focused on achieving shared project goals.”
Founded in 1993 by Robert Grucz, Delta Industrial, based in Chesterfield, Michigan, is a design-build specialist for machine, press pit and slitting line foundations; general building maintenance and construction; concrete flatwork; and steel fabrication and construction.
BUILT ON EXPERIENCE
The Delta team brings a depth of knowledge that spans construction, engineering and large-scale project management, which translates directly into optimized production spaces and lasting value. When tasked with building the foundation for a 1,500-ton press at IB Tech’s Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, facility, Delta handled everything for the independent automotive parts manufacturer, including shoring and excavation to installing embedded steel, die foundations, trenches and coil car foundations. The project included more than 5,000 square feet of slab-on-grade concrete and plating around the press a full-scope solution. The Tennessee facility employs 200 people and uses stamping, welding, clinching and riveting to assemble power seat adjusters, manual seat adjusters and reclining adjusters.

For a project at TBTN, Delta designed and built two 1,200-ton press foundations and a connected scrap tunnel, overcoming challenges such as limited space and nearby structural footings.
STRENGTH IN INFRASTRUCTURE
Delta’s work in facility infrastructure development ensures that every addition, upgrade and expansion is built to perform because manufacturers rely on stable, well-designed spaces to keep production running smoothly. Every machine foundation must meet exacting standards.
Solar Atmospheres has seven heat-treat facilities across the country and serves over 18 industries, including aerospace, automotive, defense, medical and power generation. The company has over 90 furnaces used for annealing, age hardening, stress relieving, hardening and tempering. They range from laboratory-sized to one of the world’s largest commercial vacuum furnaces.
Delta worked with the company on a building addition project, providing a start-to-finish furnace foundation and site work, including anchor bolt installation, 16,000 square feet of slab-on-grade, a truck well, and 63,000 square feet of exterior concrete paving. The result was a structurally strong facility ready to house advanced thermal processing equipment.
Delta Industrial offers design, engineering, fabrication and construction services.
Delta’s engineers and tradespeople also design and installing the support systems required for high-tonnage presses, machining centers and automated systems.
As part of a $30 million expansion to its production facility, Nidec Minster, Minster, Ohio, is currently installing the second of two Pama Vertiram 3000 TT bridge mills. For the machine foundations, Delta managed design, excavation, heaving seawall shoring, embedded steel installation and continuous concrete pours. Electrical grounding, anchor pocket grouting, and post-install detailing complete the project, ensuring a precise, vibration-resistant foundation for mission-critical equipment.
With this increased capacity and capabilities, Nidec Minster is providing contract manufacturing services to customers requiring large precision components.
“Our facility is equipped with a comprehensive range of precision manufacturing equipment, enabling us to handle complex and large-scale components with exceptional accuracy,” John MacDonald, Nidec Minster’s contract manufacturing sales manager, said in a statement. “And with our fabrication facility and value-added processes, we are able to offer turnkey solutions.”
OPTIMIZING PERFORMANCE
As facilities evolve, Delta will continue to work with manufacturers, helping them to reimagine layouts, streamline processes and integrate new technologies to improve throughput and reduce downtime.
For TBTN, the company designed and built two 1,200-ton press foundations and a connected scrap tunnel, overcoming challenges such as limited space and nearby structural footings. The project required intricate shoring, waterproofing and steel embed installation, along with 16,000 square feet of new slab and precision steel plating. The result was a modernized press line foundation completed safely and efficiently.
Delta’s project managers coordinated every phase of every project with the utmost care, ensuring all work meets rigorous industry standards and client expectations. This approach fosters trust and delivers results on time and within scope.
BUILDING FOR TOMORROW
Delta is dedicating to evolving as technology changes, focusing on integrating advanced construction techniques, precision layout tools and efficient workflows. With craftsmanship rooted in experience and a forward-looking approach to progress, Delta Industrial continues to build the foundations that drive American manufacturing forward.
