Donaldson introduces plug-and-play dust collector

October 17, 2017 - Donaldson Company Inc. has introduced the Packaged Downflo Evolution (DFEP) dust collector, a complete system for collecting industrial dust and fumes. The system includes a best-in-class Downflo Evolution dust collector from Donaldson Torit®, preassembled and shipped with integrated electrical controls, motors, and fans for easy installation and operation.

The DFEP was designed to meet rapid growth in the metal fabrication industry and offers facilities a convenient solution for protecting employees and property from dust hazards while maximizing production uptime. The powerful filtration system is available in four- and six-cartridge models, with additional models to be introduced over the coming months.

“Downflo Evolution cartridge technology was a leap forward in performance and value for customers when we launched it three years ago,” said John Woolever, product manager in the Industrial Air Filtration unit of Donaldson. “Now the DFEP leverages the features of that technology—pulse-jet cleaning, airflow management, and filtration efficiency—and bundles them into an attractive, turnkey system to deliver new value and convenience to our customers.”

To develop the DFEP, Donaldson worked closely with global cutting and welding equipment manufacturers, who frequently bundle dust collectors with their products as a service to end users. The DFEP features a modern, aesthetically-pleasing design that complements state-of-the-art manufacturing environments. And, because the DFEP has a standard design worldwide, local orders can be conveniently sourced from Donaldson facilities nearest to the customer.

“Our OEM customers are global in mindset and want a consistent plug-and-play solution, not a variety of separate parts that have to be assembled in the field,” said Woolever. “With the DFEP, it will be easy to deliver a single, bundled dust collection system to their customer base.”

The filtration technology in the DFEP features horizontal cartridge filter elements placed above the airstream, allowing gravity to assist in removing dust-laden air. Along with pulse-jet cleaning, the down-flow action increases filtration capacity and reduces maintenance, which maximizes uptime.

“As manufacturing processes advance, the demand for and importance of reliable filtration grows with them,” said Woolever. “A metal fabricator puts a significant capital investment into a new fabrication line to expand their capabilities; interruptions in production due to filtration are extremely disruptive and expensive. With our experience and knowledge, and the best technology in the marketplace, Donaldson helps maximize that investment.”
