Industrial fabricator Miller Welding & Machine celebrates Manufacturing Day with free tours

September 27, 2017 -Miller Welding & Machine Company (MWM), a strategic metals manufacturing partner for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), will open its doors to the public as part of Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 6. Tours will run every 30 minutes from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT at its two Brookville, PA locations. U.S. Senator Pat Toomey and State Representative Cris Dush are expected to be in attendance.

MWM's Manufacturing Day participation will feature demonstrations of various forms of metals manufacturing, such as laser cutting, robotic welding, machining, coating, and mechanical assembly. Interactive question-and-answer opportunities will be available during each guided tour.

“It is our community that largely fuels our ability to offer complex metal parts manufacturing services to OEMs globally," says Eric Miller, vice president of sales and marketing. "From local employees and businesses, to area schools and institutions, these are the driving forces behind the future of Miller Welding & Machine, and the future of the manufacturing industry.”

Manufacturing represents the largest employment industry in Jefferson County, PA, according to 2016 annual averages from the Pennsylvania Center for Workforce Information & Analysis. MWM employs 400 personnel throughout the Western Pennsylvania region, ranking it within the top 15 employers in the county. The metalworking manufacturer was named Manufacturer of the Year last year by Pittsburgh Business Times.

Manufacturing Day is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Started in 2012 and sponsored by the National Association of Manufacturers, the celebration invites members of the community across the country — including students, educators, businesspeople, media, and politicians — to manufacturing facilities in a collective effort to educate visitors about manufacturing career opportunities and improve public awareness of the profession.
