Bryan Stalcup

Big Hubless

Plumber Bryan Stalcup fabricated the Big Hubless chopper completely from scratch using scrap yard finds. The bike, which won the 2010 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Garage Shop Fabricator Contest, has a rear wheel without a hub or axle that sits on an industrial machine bearing. Stalcup sourced the bearing and most of the bike’s metal from scrap yards and learned new fabrication techniques as the project came together. “It’s like doing a puzzle but with engineering involved,” he says. Big Hubless took him a total of 13 months to complete and was the first bike he ever built.
